When Barnett Nathan, a furniture maker of Russian origin, began to manufacture handcrafted pieces of furniture from a workshop in Hackney Road, East London in 1916, it was the middle of the Great War and perhaps not the ideal time to embark on a furniture making business. At the end of the war Barnett was joined by his two brothers and they used their furniture making skills to develop a business with a reputation in the trade for fine craftsmanship and good quality.

Good design,combining function with looks, has always been at the heart of Nathan Furniture , believing that furniture should be both useful and good looking; having enduring appeal,character and interest.

The Classic Collection, is still a best seller nearly 40 years later. Some of the models have changed and the collection has evolved to keep it up to date, but the basis of these enduring designs have stood the test of time.

Its not just the design of individual pieces, but a collection of pieces that work together and complement each other. So that customers have the confidence that they would be able to come back and add to their collections as their needs changed.
