With winter coming & the temperatures dropping, now seems like the perfect time to take a look at some of the World’s coolest structures!

Where better to start than the World’s first ever frozen hotel, the IceHotel in Sweden! It is rebuilt every single year in the village of Jukkasjarvi, Northern Sweden, and opened in 1990. Besides bedrooms, there is a bar & even an ice chapel where you can get married.

Moving on to North America now, this Ice Palace in Saranac Lake New York is built every year for their Winter Carnival. This traditional dates back to 1896!

One of the most impressive displays of Ice buildings is at the Harbin International Ice & Snow Festival in Northern China. They construct life-size buildings based on Chinese fairy tales, slides & sculptures, as well as replicas of wonders of the world such as the Pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China.

This Ice Palace in St Petersburg Russia was first commissioned in 1740 by Empress Anna Ivanovna to celebrate their victory in the Turkish War. Starting in 2005 & every year since, sculptors have worked to recreate the Palace, including its garden filled with ice trees & furniture made of ice.

BRRR! I don’t know about you, but I’m off to warm up with a huge mug of hot chocolate from The Place To Eat!
