Ercol Salina Bedroom Range
Sustainable, Superior Furniture
Sustainability has been a core value for Ercol since the beginning and the company has taken several measures to ensure that its furniture production is environmentally responsible. The brand is intent on designing and producing beautiful and honest furniture whilst carefully considering the effect on the environment.
Primarily working with solid wood, such as beech, elm, ash, and oak, Ercol ensures that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests, where trees are replanted to maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem.
They continue to invest heavily in UK manufacturing, having built their award-winning factory in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire in 2002. Environmental considerations have played an essential part in their factory’s design; large windows maximise the use of natural daylight, sound proofing retains noise within the building and motion sensors in the offices to control the lighting and reduce wasted energy. The factory and office are also heated by a biomass boiler, fuelled by the wood waste and sawdust from the factory.
By constantly reviewing and utilising more sustainable manufacturing methods and materials, in terms of their ability to be replenished, recycled or disposed of, Ercol seeks to minimise landfill contributions and reduce overall waste generation.
