Exploring This Year's Summer Trends

by Abbi Travers, Interior Design Consultant

This year we are celebrating our 80th birthday and to mark the occasion, we’re looking ahead to the summer interiors trends shaping 2026 and exploring how our collections can help customers create stylish, comfortable and characterful homes that reflect the latest looks.

"This summer, home interiors are embracing a renewed sense of comfort, character and connection."

The latest furnishing trends reflect a desire for spaces that feel warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, combining timeless influences with modern living. From relaxed country-inspired schemes to confident uses of colour, this year’s styles celebrate individuality, texture and creating homes that feel truly lived in. One of the standout influences for 2026 is modern country living, where soft neutral tones, natural materials and rich dark wood finishes come together to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. This style blends traditional charm with contemporary comfort, creating a relaxed yet elegant feel that can be achieved through carefully chosen furniture, textures and accessories from our collections.

Colour is also making a confident statement this season. Dark, moody shades used within bright and airy spaces are becoming increasingly popular, adding depth, warmth and a sense of atmosphere. The rise of colour drenching allows homeowners to fully embrace a shade throughout a room, from walls and ceilings to furnishings and accessories, creating a bold, cohesive interior that feels both dramatic and inviting.

Lighting and accessories are becoming defining features within the home, with dramatic, oversized designs making a strong visual impact. From bedrooms to living spaces, larger sculptural lighting pieces are being used to add personality, enhance ambience and become a focal point within a room. Thoughtfully selected accessories can also bring a scheme together, adding those finishing touches that make a house feel like home.

The connection between indoor and outdoor living continues to influence summer interiors, with nature-inspired designs bringing a fresh and timeless feel into our homes. Collections from brands such as Sanderson, Harlequin and Morris & Co. capture this beautifully, with their iconic designs and fabrics bringing the beauty of nature indoors. Some of these patterns are also available on durable outdoor-friendly materials, helping customers extend their style beyond the traditional boundaries of the home.

Furniture design is also embracing softer, more sculptural forms. Curved silhouettes and gentle shapes are replacing more structured designs, with sofas, accent chairs and statement pieces creating a sense of comfort, movement and visual flow. These softer forms not only enhance the look of a room but also encourage relaxation and everyday enjoyment.

Alongside this, home layouts are becoming increasingly flexible and informal. Traditional furniture arrangements are being replaced with more fluid spaces that adapt to modern lifestyles. Combining different sofa sizes, occasional chairs and complementary furniture pieces allows homeowners to create rooms that feel welcoming, practical and designed around the way they live.

As we celebrate 80 years of helping customers create beautiful homes, these 2026 summer trends reflect what we believe makes an interior truly special is a balance of comfort, craftsmanship and personal style. By combining rich colours, natural textures, statement lighting and beautifully designed furniture, customers can create spaces that feel timeless, inviting and made to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
