We require an Assistant Restaurant Manager to work at our busy restaurant at our store in Bury St Edmunds.

The job role is to coordinate the operation of the restaurant, ensuring that the kitchen, service counter and waiting staff are working as a team. Help recruit, train, manage and motivate staff. Respond to customer queries and complaints. Meet and greet customers, organise table allocations and offer advice about menu choice.

Day time working hours, every other weekend off, free parking, staff discount after qualifying period and competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

  • To take responsibility of the day to day running of the restaurant in the absence of the restaurant manager
  • To assist the restaurant manager in staff development.
  • To assist the restaurant manager in recruiting, training, managing and motivating staff.
  • Coordinate the operation of the restaurant, ensuring that the kitchen, service counter and waiting staff are working as a team.
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints.

  • Maintain high standards of quality control and presentation, hygiene and health and safety.
  • Check stock levels, stock rotation, order supplies.
  • Report defective equipment, and assist in the completion of stocktakes
  • Prepare cash drawers
  • Comply with licencing laws and other legal requirements.
  • To be an Ambassador of Glasswells Ltd brand standards in line with company policy and procedures.
  • To ensure the restaurant is compliant with Food Safety practices, paperwork up to date and relevant.
  • Carry out other duties that may be necessary from time to time.

Warehouse Operative / Carpet Warehouse | Full Time

 We are looking to recruit a hardworking and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our busy team in Bury St Edmunds. This role covers both our Carpet Warehouse and Home Department store on Newmarket Road. 
 
Working within a small team, you will assist with the receiving, measuring, and cutting of carpets to our fitters’ requirements, as well as supporting the receiving, labelling, and movement of furniture and furnishings throughout the store. You will also maintain accurate records using our in-house computer system — full training will be provided. 
 
This is a physical role that involves lifting and moving heavy items, loading and unloading lorries, and occasionally assembling flat-pack furniture, so a practical, hands-on approach is essential.
 
A current forklift licence is desirable, though not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.

The role is for 42.50 hours a week.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
 

  • Have strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Be detail-oriented and accurate in their work.
  • Communicate clearly and work well as part of a team.
  • Be adaptable, with a hands-on attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a forklift licence.
  • Have some experience handling furniture or assembling flat-pack items (advantageous).

 
Key responsibilities include:
 

  • Measure, cut, and prepare carpets accurately for installation.
  • Receive, label, and book in goods using our in-house computer system.
  • Assist with the despatch and receipt of inter-branch transfers. 
  • Prepare furniture for display and support the general movement of stock throughout the store.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and shop-floor environment.
  • Load and unload deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Assemble flat-pack furniture when required.
