Caring For Your Vinyl

At Glasswells we are flooring experts, which is why we’ve created this care guide to provide you with all the necessary information on how to keep your vinyl in top condition. Vinyl flooring is known for being fuss-free and low-maintenance but, there are still a few things you need to do to keep it looking great.

MAINTENANCE

Vinyl flooring is mostly likely to get damaged just after installation. Before you begin moving furniture back into the room, make sure to remove debris then sweep and vacuum to remove any left over dust. Always try to keep sharp objects away from the surface and avoid sliding or dragging anything across it. Ensure that all furniture legs are smooth and wont mark your vinyl and replace any narrow, glass or dome shaped glides with smooth protectors such as felt. Rubber can cause a chemical reaction with vinyl, so make sure your flooring does not come in sustained contact with it.

HOW TO CLEAN VINYL FLOORS

Loose debris, dust and dirt should be removed from vinyl flooring regularly. This can be done using a soft brush or with gentle vacuuming. As vinyl is non-absorbent, any liquids will sit on the surface. Always clean liquids immediately with a mop or wrung out damp cloth to wash the surface and always ensure the surface is dry before walking on it. When removing stains, warm light soapy water is enough but if you have any tough stains, products like bicarbonate of soda can help.
