Removals Porter | Full Time

Located at our Kempson Way Warehouse on Moreton Hall in Bury St Edmunds, we are seeking to recruit a porter to work primarily on local removals in and round East Anglia. You will need to assist with local deliveries for the retail side of our business as required and may undertake some overnight work.

As this position involves handling value furniture and liaising directly with our customers, experience would be preferred but it is not essential. This is a customer facing role, so a friendly and professional attitude is required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

Physical fitness and stamina – you’ll be lifting and carrying heavy furniture

Customer service - A positive and helpful attitude when dealing with customers

Flexibility – able to adapt to different tasks and schedules

Team spirit – able to work closely with drivers and other team members

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the loading and unloading of furniture and households’ goods
• Packing and wrapping items securely for transport
• Handling customers’ belongings with care and respect
• Delivering items to homes and commercial properties across the region
• Occasionally assisting with deliveries or warehouse duties if required

Furniture Sales Adviser | Full Time

Glasswells is the biggest home department store in East Anglia, with shops in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Haverhill, and Saffron Walden. We offer a wide range of quality home furnishings and flooring products to our customers across East Anglia.

We have an opening in our Bury St Edmunds store for an experienced and highly enthusiastic Sales Adviser to join our Furniture sales team.

The ideal candidate will be motivated to achieve sales targets and have:

• An impressive track record within a sales environment with the ability to maximise personal sales and meet individual targets.
• The ability to maximise in-store promotions.
• A flair for engaging with customers.
• The ability to offer advice and assistance to ensure the customer enjoys their entire Glasswells shopping experience.

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Greeting and assisting customers in store
• Answering and following up on instore, phone and website enquiries
• Preparing quotations
• Taking orders in person and over the phone
• Maximising add-on sales
• Using the company sales programme to process and progress orders. Full training will be given on our company systems and procedures.
• Maintaining showroom standards, keeping the department tidy and appealing

Catering Assistant | Part Time | Alternate Weekends

We are looking for a part time Catering Assistant to work in our busy Place to Eat Restaurant at our Bury St Edmunds store. Duties include clearing tables and serving food and drinks.

Experience would be preferred, but is not essential as training is given, candidates must have good time keeping, be a team player and have a good work ethic.

Competitive salary.

Every other weekend Saturday 11am-3.30pm and Sunday 12-3pm

Another position to cover alternate Sundays is also available 12-3pm
